Project Background

A consultancy organisation that provides management and organisational support had previously used an off the shelf software package to keep track of staff time and activity (e.g. consultancy time spent with their clients).

Unfortunately, the software was not flexible enough to meet the changing needs of the business, and as a result, staff were not able to accurately record their daily time and activities. Ultimately this meant that the business was unable to use the data to properly understand itself and its clients.

Outcomes

Working with several key stakeholders within the organisation, I designed and developed a custom Business Activity Monitoring Software application that would meet all of the business needs, as well as adding features that the previous software was unable to offer.

The application provided value for every user type, whether it was the Chief Executive, Business Manager or Consultancy Staff. For example, Consultancy Staff could easily record their daily time and keep track of their previous, current and future projects all in one location. The Chief Executive for the organisation had access to real-time data analytics which provided performance metrics for individual members of staff and the organisation as a whole.

The staff within the organisation often travelled to provide consultancy services throughout Northern Ireland and it was important that they could access the application using their mobile devices. To accommodate this, the application was designed using the front-end framework of Bootstrap. This meant that users had a high user experience on any internet-enabled device.
