Project Background
The majority of organisations within Health & Social Care in Northern Ireland had been using online recruitment software to advertise their jobs and process online applications. However, the software was a monolithic application and it needed replacing. The change drivers for the replacement included:
- Refactoring the source code.
- Modernisation of the application technology.
- Improvement of user experience for end-users.
- Condensing the number of job application forms used within the site from 18 to 4.
Outcomes
I played a key role in the design, development, testing and change management associated with the replacement recruitment software. The application was extremely successful and it became the primary source for online recruitment within Health & Social Care in Northern Ireland. The replacement software also acted as a key enabler to the creation of a paperless recruitment service, providing substantial savings for the organisations which used it.
With over 50,000 registered users and approximately 10,000 unique visitors every day, the software was one of the most successful digital applications ever deployed within Health & Social Care in Northern Ireland. This view is reinforced having been shortlisted for the Northern Ireland eHealth and Social Care Awards, and winning the HSC Business Services Organisation's Innovation Award.
